What paperwork do you need to purchase a home? Whether you’re a first-time buyer or haven’t moved in a while, you need to have the necessary documentation for your home purchase. Here are a few items you need to purchase a house:

The most important thing you need is two years of tax returns or other income verification. If you’re like most homebuyers and you need a loan, your lender will need to verify your income. For W2 employees, two years of tax returns should be sufficient. However, self-employed folks or those with most of their wealth tied up in assets might need other documentation, like bank statements.
